The journey began nearly 40 years ago just a couple blocks down the street. A community of believers in the Reformed and Christian Reformed churches felt the touch of God and were faithful. They lived in the neighborhoods surrounding University Hills and dedicated themselves to sharing their faith and their resources to education, social welfare and care
of seniors.
It was the belief of these founders that Christians should band together to meet the needs of the community's members in such a way that they would experience the Master's touch provided through professional and loving care. The University Hills Christian Nursing Home Association was born in 1969 on the foundation of this belief and momentum of this passion.
On Sunday, May 7, 1972, the doors opened to the first nursing home licensed for 31 skilled nursing beds and 31 intermediate care beds. Even then, the staff and supporting community believed that attention to detail was paramount and special touches were included—rooms designed so that every resident would enjoy a window view of the trees and landscaping. It needed to feel like home—because it was and would be—home for so many friends and family for years to come.
The legacy grew with the 124-apartment home Christian Living Center in June of 1983, providing a new and exceptional standard in independent living for seniors.
One year later, construction on a third phase began in order to increase the nursing beds to 94 and create a separate two-story assisted living building with 30 studio rooms. Subsequent additions provided new lovely touches to the dining room, laundry, kitchen, offices, and glassed walkways—all with attention paid to the original mission...attention to detail.
The expansion over the years wasn't just structural—the name grew outside of the neighborhood as well. The vision that started Christian Living Campus at University Hills grew to include new campuses in the metro area.
But they weren't just buildings or centers...they had the perfect touch of community. So the name was changed to Christian Living Communities, because they are just that—living and thriving communities.
Communities like the one at the end of Clermont Street where it all began.
Clermont Park. Where residents feel the calm, breathe deeply the fragrant gardens and enjoy the park-like setting that takes us all back to the roots of this splendid journey of believers.
Believers who knew then what we also know now...life is at its fullest when God provides the finishing touches.

The redevelopment of University Hills and The Living Center community and the creation of Clermont Park is a five-year project that began in the fall of 2007. The plans call for the construction of a two-story building as a new home for our Skilled Nursing residents and a four-story building to house Residential Living apartment homes.
The existing Independent Living apartments will be remodeled to house Tailored Living, Memory Support and Assisted Living residents. The Town Center will also be constructed to provide a community-centered environment for residents and visitors.
Construction and demolition efforts are phased so that residents can continue to reside on the existing campus throughout the project. Once the redevelopment is complete, Clermont Park will be a continuing care retirement community, offering multiple levels of services and care under the same roof.
Timeline dates shown here are subject to change based on the many factors that impact construction.
JANUARY 2008 Tailored Living—Updating of vacant apartment homes as they become available.
MAY 2008 Tailored Living—Residents residing on the second floor move into updated apartment homes, allowing construction to begin on the new Assisted Living and Memory Support communities.
JULY 2008 Tailored Living—Second floor construction on 15 Assisted Living and 17 Memory Support apartment homes.
OCTOBER 2008 Assisted Living—Modifications to the present Assisted Living area to become an interim location providing skilled nursing care.
JANUARY 2009 Tailored Living—Completion of construction of the new Assisted Living and Memory Support communities. Residents move from the existing Assisted Living.
FEBRUARY 2009 Skilled Nursing—Thirty skilled-care residents move to the modified former Assisted Living area, fully vacating the south and west hallways of the nursing home.
FEBRUARY 2009 Construction of a new two-story, 64-suite Skilled Nursing community and Phase I of the Town Center begins.
APRIL 2010 Completion of the new Skilled Nursing Suites and Phase I of the Town Center.
MAY 2010 Construction of a new four-story building with 71 Residential Living apartment homes for residents wanting all inclusive services and Phase II of the Town Center.
AUGUST 2011 Construction complete. Residential Living residents are welcomed to their new apartment homes.
Once complete, Clermont Park will provide a full continuum of care for residents.
Residential Living—
Apartment homes for seniors who are able to live on their own, who desire all inclusive services, security and conveniences of community living.
Tailored Living—
An "a la carte" services model of Residential Living, in which residents may choose specific services and amenities they need and would like to use; the cost of the offering would depend on the type of services the resident selects.
Memory Support Care—
The care and comfort for residents with Alzheimer's and dementia disorders.
Assisted Living—
For residents desiring some medical care and assistance with activities of daily living.
Skilled Nursing Suites—
For residents needing around-the-clock care by licensed and certified nursing staff.

Honoring the same traditions as our founders' faith, Christian Living Communities is dedicated to serving Clermont Park residents in an affordable home, offering a full continuum of care—but with no compromises on quality and lifestyle.
Each stroke of the brush, carve of the wood and fold of the fabric will establish Clermont Park as an exceptional example of what the community of God believes is an appropriate reflection of the respect, dignity and honor due its residents.
The ministry will be perpetuated because of the new capacity of the common areas to be enjoyed as a true Town Center by an expanded community of friends and family.
Careful and deliberate planning, income realized through the success of other Christian Living Communities and generous donations gifted through the Bright Tomorrows campaign, provide all the resources needed for Clermont Park with the exception of the finishing touches in the common areas. The finishing touches that make Clermont Park home.
Keeping the original cornerstone in place, Clermont Park will celebrate a great finish in honor of a great beginning.
But now, we ask that you help finish the work started nearly 40 years ago. Work that your prayers and support helped provide.
Your ultimate touch brings our time, talent and treasure to a culmination.
